Alexis Alexandra
Alexis Alexandra’s eponymous collection is a love letter to her late father, John Aram Hagosian. He was a master craftsman who worked alongside Alexis’s grandfather, Aram Alexander, at their family’s acclaimed San Francisco atelier, A. Hagosian & Son. Her father closed the family business the year of Alexis’s birth, and it remained so for 38 years. Later in life, it became her calling to revive the family jewelry trade, honoring both the 100th anniversary of her father’s birth in 2020 and the Hagosians’ historic journey from Armenia to America. Alexis, a psychotherapist, embarked on teaching herself the family trade to engage with her late father and transfer the father-son lineage to mother-daughter. The jewelry of Alexis Alexandra is rooted in the idea of transformation, an alchemy of deep longing into lasting beauty, converting a wax mold into stunning gold relics. Here, she reclaims her family story into meaningful mementos. Each hand-engraved heirloom is a reminder of survival and beauty to pass down to future generations.
Collection
The inaugural collection of Alexis Alexandra comprises eight intricate botanical designs, all restored from her father’s original sketches. For Alexis, flora represents nature’s ephemeral quality and her father’s affinity for plant life in his work. Each artisanal piece is cast in solid 18ct gold and engraved by hand in Los Angeles.
Craftsmanship
Each handcrafted piece is created by master artisans who follow an ancient technique of lost wax casting, chasing, and engraving. After melting out the wax from its mold, 18ct gold is poured into its place. The ring is polished and refined by hand, and the engraver etches intricate designs by eye. Finishing touches by the master jeweler involve a final polish and antiquing treatment. Each unique piece may take over a week of handwork to complete.
Presentation
Each heirloom arrives nestled in a signature glass ring vessel designed in France and handcrafted in California. This unique object puts the ring on display and stands as its own work of art.
Social Responsibility
Alexis Alexandra is committed to donating a portion of her profits to Access Institute in San Francisco, which provides pro-bono and low-fee psychological care to those with the greatest need and least access to care.
